Two milestones in my advancement with AICI (Association of Image Consultants International).
Finally, after nine months of preparation, I got my second level of international certification passed. With this comes the title “AICI CIP”. Being the first and only one in Malaysia to hold this prestigious title, I have more to do, to maintain the high standard of professionalism that is expected of the image consulting/training business.
Almost simultaneously to earning my CIP, our AICI Malaysia chapter was officially approved by AICI in February, 2010. Being the Founding President, one of the first task that my Board and I had successfully done was a gathering of members and public to the AICI Malaysia Forum. During this forum, three of us, viz Aziah VP-Elect, Evelyn VP Marketing and yours truly, shared our experiences of how we grow our image consulting business, our challenges and success stories, and how is the image consulting in Malaysia. We had 28 enthusiastic beautiful men and women turned up. More will be signing up as AICI associate members, as they are keen to develop their professional standard in image consulting.
On May 20-23, six of us from AICI Malaysia just attended the AICI Conference in Vancouver. The group from Malaysia are VP-Elect Aziah Jasmine, Treasure, Enrique Tsou, VP Education Josephine Lui, Jacqueline Ng, Shawati Sharifah and yours truly.
Being a new chapter and the only one that is formed this year, we received special attention and lots of congratulatory message from our fellow members, especially the Board. We received leadership training as well. Meeting old friends, making new friends, the networking was fun.
As a newly qualified AICI CIP, I received my recognition during the Gala Event on Saturday night. There were twelve of us receiving the CIP award that night. Five others were not there. And we are from all over the world. As a new chapter President, I was asked to share our experience on how we got the chapter started, during the FIRST TIMER session on the first day of conference. I was surprised to find that there are a lot of members from other countries, who have to travel to other country for chapter meetings because they don’t have a chapter in their own country. And they are all keen to have their own chapter, because they realize chapter meetings and chapter education days help their growth as a professional.
Josephine had the honour to share with the participants on “East-West Etiquette” on Sunday afternoon. She donned a beautiful green & violet Nyonya kebaya and spoke about the Malaysian culture and etiquette.
